Greenpeace:
Save the Arctic

Illustrations for Greenpeace's campaign against oil drilling on the Arctic.

Overview

Save the Arctic is a Greenpeace campaign to protect the Arctic, principally by preventing oil drilling and unsustainable industrial fishing in the area completely, surrounded by an Arctic-Environmental economics-Zone. The campaign began in 2012 and is still running today.

Creative brief

We were asked to create a SoMe campaign that would encourage young danish adult Facebook users, to sign the protest against LEGO partnering with Shell. At the time of the campaign, Shell gave small boxes of LEGO whenever you bought a certain amount of og fuel. The messaging of the campaign should be provoking without being too explicit on the matter.

I ended up creating what we called "The Fuel Monsters".

Aftermath

The entire campaign is a global project, and it was quite cool to be a part of it. The public attention was huge, and we gathered a lot of signatures through the Facebook campaign. Greenpeace produced this video, and it went VIRAL... FAST!

Very shortly after that, LEGO publicly announced that the contract with Shell was canceled.
